This information is just what I have been looking for: With spring coming I dread the season. I suffer from hayfever and I do not like the over the counter drugs. They dry me out. I believe that would go under the respiratory system.

Yes, you are right Anonymous. Seasonal allergies do affect the respiratory system. Hay fever (allergic rhinitis) is an allergy to proteins in the pollen of trees, grasses, some plants, or mold that affects the mucous membranes of the nose, eyes and air passages. There are actually three hay fever seasons, distinguished by the different types of pollen present at different times. Tree pollens appear first, usually between February and May, depending on the local climate. The biggest problems come later in spring and in summer, when trees, weeds, and grass pollens - and people - are out at the same time. The fall is ragweed pollens season.
It is important to strengthen the respiratory system with dietary nutrients. For example, Bromelain, which reduces inflammation associated with hay fever symptoms. Quercetin, a bioflavonoid that stabilizes the membranes of the cells that release histamine, which triggers allergic symptoms.
Herbs are helpful as well, such as mullein, which has anti-inflammatory and demulcent properties and boneset, helps to clear the upper repiratory tract of mucous congestion.
Most of these nutrients and herbs can be found in Nature Sunshine's "HistaBlock and ALJ liquid or capsules".

HistaBlock® (90 caps)
Benefits:
• Provides nutrients that support the respiratory system in its battle against allergens, pollutants and toxins.
• Provides antioxidant strength to help stabilize mast cells.
• Supports the body’s efforts to control inflammation and swelling of mucous membranes.

HistaBlock® [Respiratory] supports the body in times of respiratory stress. A powerful combination of stinging nettle, quercetin, bromelain and immature orange peel (which contains synephrine). HistaBlock provides nutritional support for the respiratory system.

This formula provides antioxidants and supports the body’s efforts to maintain mucous membrane health and nasal passage tissues.

Adults: Take 2 capsules with a meal twice daily.

ALJ® Liquid (2 fl. oz.)
Benefits:

•Helps soothe irritated tissues.
•Encourages the entire respiratory tract to gently cleanse itself.
•Assists the body in neutralizing allergens by nutritional means.

ALJ® [Respiratory] is the key product for the respiratory system. Airborne particles are everywhere. When particles enter the respiratory system via the nose or the mouth, the body turns on its cleansing mechanisms, and the immune system is put on active duty. Herbal nourishment supports a healthy respiratory system that can be challenged by inhaled irritants. ALJ combines selected herbal ingredients to nourish the immune and respiratory systems. This formula supports healthy lung function and helps support the body during seasonal changes. It also encourages the entire respiratory tract to gently cleanse itself and helps promote respiratory tissue health. It contains:

Boneset aerial parts
Fennel seeds
Fenugreek seeds
Horseradish root extract
Mullein leaves extract

Each of these herbs has been used traditionally as a dietary supplement. ALJ combines them in a balanced formula. ALJ liquid extract provides all the benefits of its powdered counterpart in an easily absorbable liquid form, preserved in a glycerin base.

Take 2–4 capsules/tablets with a meal three times daily; liquid, take 20–30 drops (1–2 ml) with water every two–four hours; children take 10–20 drops (0.5–1 ml) with water every two–four hours. One ml is equal to 2 ALJ Vegitabs. (4 Kids Too!)

Great Blog Tracey, I always enjoy and heed your advice. I'm still taking the liquid vitamin and it is helping tremendously. I've lost 10 lbs and am really feeling better. Can you suggest anything for my parents. My mom suffers from glacoma, diverticulitus and very low energy and interest. My dad suffers from arthritis as does my sister. My parents just moved in with us so I'm trying to help them find some alternative ways to keep healthy. We'll have to talk.

Thanks Susan, I like that NutraBurst liquid high potency multi-vitamin and use it as well. Liquid supplements absorb more quickly into your body. Click on the link below, then click on the word “customer” on the upper right side of the page and find NutraBurst, at http://www.iasotea.com/quick
To speak to your parents concerns, Glaucoma (briefly) is a group of diseases that affect the optic nerve. There are different types of Glaucoma. Most common is open angle glaucoma. In OAG there is no physical blockage and the structures of the eye appear normal, but the drainage of fluid nevertheless is inadequate to keep the intraocular pressure at a normal level. Normotensive Glaucoma, NTG is very much like OAG but without the increased fluid pressure. Less common in Close-angle glaucoma, CAG occurs when the channels through which the eye’s fluids drain suddenly become constricted or obstructed. Glaucoma probably has many causes. Many scientists believe it may be closely linked to stress and nutritional problems, or disorders such as diabetes and hypertension. There are several Nutrients that will help reduces pain and strengthen the lens i.e., Rutin, an important bioflavonoid that works with vitamin C and aids in reducing pain and intraocular pressure - 50 mg 3 times daily. Vitamin A, needed for good eyesight. Essential in formation of visual purple. , the substance necessary for night vision – 50,000 IU daily, (if you are pregnant, do not exceed 10,000 IU daily. Zinc, Essential in activating vitamin A from the liver. Very beneficial in glaucoma therapy. Use Zinc Sulfate form – 50 mg daily. Herbs like Bilberry contains flavonoids and ntureints needed to protect the eyes from further damage. Fresh blueberries and red raspberry leaf can be used also. Chickweed and eyebright are good for all eye disorders. Nature Sunshine has many products that might be beneficial in helping:

Susan, this is the second part to my response to your blog....
Vitamin A & D (10,000/400 IU) (100 caps)
Vitamin A & D [Vital Nutrition]. Vitamin A was the first vitamin to be discovered. It is essential in maintaining good vision and promoting normal growth. It occurs in animal tissues as retinol but in plants as carotene, a precursor of vitamin A. This vitamin is necessary for the health of epithelial cells and the immune system. It is also required for the digestion of protein. It is essential for lactation, reproduction and the formation of steroid hormones. It is used to form the cells lining the digestive, respiratory, reproductive and urinary tracts and in all tissue linings of the body. It is also vital for healthy skin and is a famous antioxidant. It is best absorbed when taken with oil or fat. Each capsule contains 10,000 IU of vitamin A derived from fish oils, or 200 percent of the Daily Value.
Vitamin D works synergistically with vitamin A. It plays a role in absorbing and regulating calcium and phosphorus. This vitamin helps the body synthesize protein and helps build strong bones, teeth and skin. It is vital to the health of the nervous system and kidneys. It can be derived from the sun’s action on oils secreted and reabsorbed by the skin. But if skin is tan or older, it is less capable of producing vitamin D.
Each capsule of Vitamin A & D contains 400 IU of vitamin D, which is 100 percent of the Daily Value.
CAUTION: If pregnant or planning pregnancy, daily vitamin A intake should not exceed 5,000 IU. Quantities in excess of 10,000 IU may result in reproductive hazards or birth defects.
Take 1 capsule daily with a meal.
Zinc (25 mg) (150 tabs)
Zinc [Immune]. This trace mineral is extremely important to overall health. More zinc is found in the body than any other trace element except for iron. Relatively large amounts are found in bone and muscle. It’s also prevalent in the prostate and retina.
Zinc is involved in hundreds of important functions in the body, including sugar metabolism, DNA formation, protein metabolism and energy production. It is also needed for the growth and development of bones. Pregnant and lactating women require extra zinc. This mineral supports immune functions, and its deficiency results in a compromised immune system.
This product is derived from zinc gluconate for more efficient absorption. For maximum benefit, it is combined in a rich, natural base of kelp leaves and stem, alfalfa aerial parts and thyme leaves. Each tablet contains 25 mg of zinc, which is 166 percent of the Daily Value.
Take 1 tablet daily with a meal.

Susan, this is the 3 part to my response to your blog.
Low Energy has many causes, stemming from anemia to not getting the right nutrients into the body. What is key here it determining the cause. Meanwhile there are many vitamins and nutrients that will boost energy levels in the body.
Vitamin B12 Complete, Liquid (2 fl. oz.)
Benefits:
•Promotes energy.
•Helps maintain nervous system function.
•Improves immune system function.
•Buffers the effects of stress.

Liquid B12 Complete [Vital Nutrition, Glandular, Nervous]. The B vitamins offer many health benefits. They help promote energy, maintain the nervous system, improve immune functions and buffer the effects of stress. Notably, the B vitamins influence the health of most of the internal organs of the body.

Vitamins can be obtained from the diet, but some of the vitamins, especially B and C vitamins, are easily lost or destroyed during cooking and processing. Liquid B vitamins may be essential for vegetarians since dietary sources of vitamin B12 are mostly foods of animal origin.

Supplementing with Liquid B12 Complete helps replenish the body’s supply of these vitamins.

Each 1 ml serving (17-18 drops) contains:

Adults: Take 1 ml (17–18 drops) once daily. Hold under the tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing. May take an additional dose as needed for energy.
